30 years after the end, Talking Heads will finally receive the first Grammy

It seems impossible, but David Byrne’s band has never been awarded a Grammy throughout its existence. Now, this flaw will be corrected

One month after announcing the nominees for the various Grammy Award categories, Recording Academy revealed which artists will receive the Career Award in 2021.

Among them are Selena, Salt-N-Pepa and Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, as well as Talking Heads, who will thus receive their first Grammy since their formation in 1975.

Throughout their career, the group formed by David Byrne, Jerry Harrison, Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth was nominated for only one occasion, in 1984, for Best Performance Rock by ‘Burning Down the House’.

This Career Award will thus honor the band of records and songs now considered classics such as ‘Remain In Light’ or ‘Road to Nowhere’.
